The aides of the Popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemi better known as Sunday Igboho have reportedly met all their Bail Conditions.
The Judge Presiding over their Case, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja was also said to have travelled abroad without even signing the release warrant of his clients.
Pelumi Olajengbesi who is the Attorney to the Aides revealed to Delphnews Media that the bail office disclosed to him that Justice Obiora left Nigeria in a Short Notice.
The court had requested that each of the 12 prisoners receive two sureties, for a total of 24 sureties. The prisoners received the sureties last week, but the court’s bail office stated that it expected to write letters to the offices of the 24 sureties to obtain additional confirmation.
Pelumi Olajengbesi revealed that he was at the Court’s Bail Office on Tuesday after all the Sureties have been confirmed waiting for Justice Obiora to sign the release warrant of his Clients but Unfortunately, he had left the Country.
“We have fulfilled all of the bail conditions, and the bail office’s appointed recorder has issued a notice to that effect. Nonetheless, the bail office informed me that the adjudicator who would sign their delivery request has gone out desperately looking for a course and will not return until the next week ” – Our journalist was told by the detainees’ attorney.
The legal advisor urged the court to appoint another judge to sign the delivery warrants for his clients, who had been in care of the Department of State Services for approximately 50 days.
DSS agents apprehended the 12 people on July 1, 2021, around 1 a.m., during a raid on Igboho’s Ibadan home.
According to Peter Afunanya, a DSS representative, the mysterious police killed two different partners of the dissident in a “firearm duel.”
