The Blues secured a win their EFL Cup Semi-final fixture against Tottenham on January 6, this time Tuchel started with Romelu Lukaku in the C.F. position.
Kai Havertz scored the opening goal barely 5 minutes on the clock while Tottenham’s Ben Davies scored an own-goal in the 34 minute.
After the match, Tottenham’s Manager, Antonio Conte gave his honest review on how his men played and what he thought of the match.
Conte started up by saying that the match was quite difficult, he believed his team staggered in the first Half and that contributed to the scoreline.
“From the Start, I think Chelsea showed to be a much better team, we staggered a lot in the first half and we know we are talking about one of the best teams in Europe and the world”.
When he was asked whether his team lost the match due to lack of confidence or attitude, the Italian manager said “No, absolutely not, I think that it is not easy to play at Stamford Bridge, they were very concentrated and won the ball most of the time”.
“Of course, when you start a game and after a few minutes a team score, the game becomes very difficult but this implies that we have a very important gap to fill if we hope for a great League Position at the end of the EPL”.
Tottenham will hope to qualify for the Finals of the competition when they host Chelsea on the 12th of January, the only question is… Will they?.
