With the AFCON Games already kicked off, some teams are off a great Start while some have been caught out cold.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria amazed everyone with their spectacular performance, dismantling the 7-time African Champions and just not seizing opportunities.
AFCON Results – January 11
Algeria vs Sierra Leone
Algeria and Sierra Leone kicked off the Group E fixtures with a 0-0 draw. Algeria had the better share of all the starts they dominated possession 63 to 37, they made around 500 passes in the game which was 2x of the Sierra Leone team who only completed 239.
Despite having City’s Riyadh Mahrez in their squad and also 8 shots on target, Algeria failed to score. They just lacked clinical strikers.
Sudan vs Guinea-Bissau
Sudan and Guinea Bissau kicked off the second fixture of Group D and though the two teams scored no goals, Guinea-Bissau was the better team.
Both teams are now ties at the second position in the AFCON group D table after Nigeria defeated Egypt and speaking of them;
Nigeria vs Egypt
Kelechi Iheanacho scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute of the Game. The Egyptian Goalkeepr, El Shenawy was quite outstanding.
Mo Salah’s Egyptian Pharaohs fought till the last second to salvage a point or possibly win the game but all attempts seemed futile as Eagles’ defence and Midfield executed the jobs to perfection.
